BE Wild :
Restoring the Texas Hill Country, One Meadow at a Time

The Be Wild Program is a large-scale, community-driven conservation initiative dedicated to restoring the ecological health of the Texas Hill Country. We achieve this through the creation of a network of Pollination Stations and Native Meadows on rural and urban land.

Our core mission is two-fold:

Ecological Restoration:
- We plant diverse, locally-sourced native plant species to create vital habitats.
- This directly supports the health of native pollinators (like bees and butterflies) and begins the process of rewilding our landscape.
Public Education & Conservation:
- Every meadow serves as an outdoor classroom, educating the public on the critical need for native plants, pollinators, and conservation.The success of these sites directly informs our broader strategy to purchase and conserve rural land by demonstrating the ecological and economic benefits of regenerative ranching and native land stewardship.

By focusing on these "pollination loops," we are actively improving biodiversity, safeguarding water resources, and building a resilient, beautiful future for the Hill Country.

Pollination Stations

Your Habitat, Your Impact -- At the center of this initiative are our Pollination Stations—carefully designed habitats that help pollinators thrive while bringing vibrant native wildflowers into your space.

Stations are available in a range of styles and sizes, from porch planters to raised beds, and even direct sowing options up to a quarter acre.

Each station can be ordered as a kit for pickup or delivery, or as a full installation, making it simple to participate no matter your space, schedule, or experience level.

Every Pollination Station includes a weatherproof sign with program information as well as a QR code link to educational resources and the growing network of stations, and care instructions to help your flowers flourish.

Native Seed Supplier

We are honored to partner with Native American Seed, the region’s premier source for 100% native wildflower and grass seeds. Their decades-long commitment to sustainable seed production and ecological restoration ensures that every Mini Meadow and Pollinator Station we create is a vibrant, authentic piece of the Hill Country ecosystem.

Native Soil Supplier

We partner with Texas Native Soil to provide the rich, organic compost foundation for all our projects. Their dedication to recycling local green waste into high-quality, nutrient-rich soil products ensures that our Mini Meadows receive the best start while supporting a crucial local circular economy.

Local Mycelium Supplier

We collaborate with the Central Texas Mycological Society (CTMS) to integrate the Fungal Kingdom into our projects. Fungi are foundational to soil health, and CTMS supplies us with mycelium-rich amendments derived from their "Mushroom Block Recycling Program," ensuring our Mini Meadows have a robust, interconnected soil biology for superior plant resilience and nutrient cycling.

Local ReUse Station

We partner with the City of Austin Resource Recovery to source a vital, local resource: recycled cardboard. By diverting this clean material from landfills, we ensure a consistent supply for our Mini Meadow construction. This collaboration also extends to special efforts like recycling political signs, which we creatively upcycle into public-facing educational materials for our pollination stations.

The Native Plant Society of Texas (NPSOT) is the leading voice for conserving our state's native flora.

We are proud to be a partner in their crucial NICE! program (Natives Improve and Conserve Environments).

This collaboration directly supports the Be Wild Program by providing the local expertise and a trusted, region-specific supply chain for the native plants we need. By strengthening these local loops, we ensure our Hill Country Pollination Stations are ecologically accurate and truly sustainable

The Roots & Wings Festival is Austin’s annual, community-wide celebration of trees and pollinators, honoring both Arbor Day and Monarch Appreciation Day. It connects citizens across the region to nature through hands-on education and community events. Our partnership is vital to the Be Wild Program, as it allows us to expand the conversation about pollinator stations and native plants to thousands of residents. The Hill Country Alliance (HCA) is the leading regional coalition dedicated to preserving the open spaces, clean waters, and unique character of the entire Texas Hill Country. HCA serves as a vital thought leader, convener, and advocate across 17 counties, focusing on land stewardship, water conservation, and responsible community growth.
